BHS products in demand worldwide

The current economic situation at BHS Getriebe GmbH, Sonthofen, Germany, is still very positive. The upswing of the last two years is continuing, and the company aims to increase its turnover from €36 million in 2001 to €50 million in 2004.

A high priority is to secure the competitiveness of the Sonthofen factory with its 300 employees.

Dieter Groher, Managing Director, said: “We’ve made fundamental changes to both our organizational structure and our production processes, and we have reduced our delivery times significantly. In 2004 we will also invest more than €4 million to modernise our machinery and our buildings. Our aim is to make sure that we remain internationally competitive.”

The company has a long tradition in mechanical engineering, and for more than 70 years has manufactured high-performance gears and gearboxes, couplings and other components. These are used in industries including power generation, chemicals, petrochemicals, oil and gas production, and transport. Our customers are multinational companies. BHS products transmit loads of up to 85 MW at up to 80,000 rpm, and have proven operating lifetimes of more than 250,000 hours.
