When reliable high-power transmission is essential…
…BHS turbo parallel shaft gear units are the answer.
BHS turbo parallel shaft gears are driven by electric motors, gas turbines, steam turbines or internal combustion engines. Driven machines include generators, compressors, pumps and blowers.
Our parallel shaft gears are especially suited to high speeds and continuous operation. Depending on the application, the wheel sets are designed as helical or double helical gears with or without thrust cones.

BHS turbo parallel shaft gears are used in every application that demands a gear unit that is extremely reliable. They are suitable for high speeds and power densities, and are available in both horizontal and vertical arrangements, so they are highly adaptable. Additional units, such as lubrication oil pumps and rotor turning gears, can be mounted on the free shaft ends of the gears.
OEMs and plant operators prefer BHS turbo parallel shaft gears because of their ability to transmit very high power and speeds reliably with low power losses. The basis for this is the optimal design of the gears themselves, based on the best technical knowledge backed by experience. To this we can add special designs, particularly for the bearings, to provide state-of-the-art performance: an example is the use of low-temperature bearings for special duties.
Turbo parallel shaft gears are designed and manufactured at BHS for powers ranging from 100 kW to 80,000 kW, and for speeds up to around 40,000 rpm. BHS turbo parallel shaft gears are advanced, high-quality products that have proved their worth repeatedly, notably in turbo systems. The gears are characterised by quiet running, long life and reliability, and are available in low, medium and high ratios.
Manufacturers of turbo parallel shaft gears face increasing demands from OEMs and plant operators in terms of engineering and order processing. For BHS this means achieving higher speeds, higher outputs and greater pitchline velocities—all at lower power losses, lower noise levels, continuing cost optimisation and shorter lead times, whilst still guaranteeing ultimate operational reliability.
